Coach Erik Ten Hag criticized Jadon Sancho’s performance in training, which caused him to be left out of the squad for the match that Manchester United lost against Arsenal (3-1) in London.
“Jadon, due to his performance in training, was not called up. At Manchester United we have to reach a level every day and we can make decisions on the front line. For this reason, he was not selected for this match,” the coach had explained about this situation.
Sancho then responded with a now-deleted controversial statement on his social media that said his manager’s words were not true and that he was being made a “scapegoat.”
“Please don’t believe everything you read! “I will not allow people to say things that are completely false,” said the English striker. “I behaved very well in training this week. I think there are other reasons for this matter that I will not go into,” he added.
Sancho denied Ten Hag for not being called up in the match they lost against Arsenal.
“I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all the decisions made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players… I will continue fighting for this shield no matter what happens,” he closed.
The two were scheduled to meet on Monday to resolve the controversy and determine whether Sancho still had a future at Old Trafford.
Now, a day later, the 23-year-old footballer has deleted the statement he published on his Twitter account. Ten Hag was reportedly shocked by his player’s statements.
After this outburst, Sancho is linked with a departure from United and could return to Borussia Dortmund in the winter market.
