Who sings today, Wednesday, January 10, at Falla? The second preliminary session of this COAC 2024 presents as great attractions the first appearances of the El Chapa choir, the chirigota with music by El Lacio and the Tomy Germany troupe under the direction of Paco ‘Catalán’.
Order of action for the second preliminary session of COAC 2024
Chorus: ‘The Guild’. Also known as the libertarian choir, the group returns to the Falla stage after a seventh place finish in 2023, where they did not make the semifinal cut. Miguel Ángel García Argüez ‘El Chapa’ assumes this year, in addition to the lyrics, the authorship of the music. Francisco Jesús Doeste Armario will be in charge of the direction.
Comparsa: ‘The blessed’. The troupe of Francisco José Fernández Díaz ‘Tote’, son of the legendary Tojo, did not make it past the quarterfinals in 2023 with ‘Las borcheras’, which came in 17th position. Tote, who has dated authors in the category of Bustelo or Antonio Martín and has collaborated with El Yuyu or El Sheriff, will try to improve the result in this contest with a group in which youth and veterans come together.
Chirigota: ‘Those with 3×4 arrhythmia’. The chirigota of Pepe Fierroof classic wickers, will not be satisfied this year with the result obtained in the last competition, in which it did not overcome the barrier of the quarterfinals. Moisés Serrano shares authorship with Fierro himself, also director of the group, who leaves the music in the hands of his son, José Antonio Rodríguez ‘Tatán’.
Comparsa: ‘The women of life’. This Sevillian troupe repeats at the Falla for the second consecutive year. In 2023 they did not make the preliminary cut, but their role was worthy and they left good feelings. The Cádiz Ramon Manuel Ruiz Lorenzo, which has in its carnival curriculum with authorships such as that of the troupe ‘El Reino de Don Carnal’ together with José Marchena Domínguez, will be in charge of the lyrics, while the music corresponds to Damián Gómez Reina. For her part, María Fiamma Durán Morillo will be the director of the group.
Chirigota: ‘Blind of thrones’. José María Barranco ‘El Lacio’ maintains his love affair with the Sevillian chirigotas. After the success that the collaboration with Pablo de la Prida and Jesuli Benárquez Liaño has brought in recent years (‘Los Daddy Cadi’, ‘Los gipsy scream’…), this time he lends his old melodies to a new group whose members They have carnival experience. The binomial Tomy Germany-Paco ‘Catalan’ is the highlight of this troupe, which has the authorship in the lyrics of Patricia Andres y Francisco Javier Ramírez ‘El Chato’, last president of the jury of the COAC 2023. The son of the legendary Antonio ‘El Germany’ is in charge of the music in a group led by the Catalán, director of legendary troupes.
