The dream of André Hazes Jr. to buy a luxurious penthouse in an expensive part of the Dutch city of Rotterdam has fallen into the water. The residents’ council refused the 27-year-old singer as a neighbor, it reports AD.

After the breakup with his wife Monique, Hazes was looking for a new home with his new flame and had his eye on a chic and expensive penthouse in the Plaszicht complex on the Hillegersberg marina. No wonder. “Beautiful three-room penthouse with two bathrooms and a spacious sunny terrace and fantastic view over the Bergse Voorplas”, says the website of the company that rents the apartments appartementen. The rent? 2,950 euros rent per month, plus 140 euros service costs and 150 euros for the parking space. A deposit of 5,900 euros is also requested.
The residents’ council decided to refuse Hazes as a co-resident. Why? The project developer explains this anonymously in the Dutch newspaper AD. “We grant everyone the apartment, but the residents were not amused. They are not waiting for fans and paparazzi at the door.”
