The body of 23-year-old Charles Hew Crooks was found in the garden of a house in Fuquay-Varina, well away from the Raleigh-Durham airport. Only a few treatable wounds for the pilot. Investigations underway

– At the moment of the emergency landing, the aircraft (a C-212 Aviocar) ended up on the lawn around the runway. On board there was only the pilot, who got away with some wounds treated in the hospital. However, 23-year-old co-pilot Charles Hew Crooks was absent, whose body was found in a garden of a house in Fuquay-Varina.
The investigations
– It is still not clear how and why the young man fell or jumped before landing, since he did not have a parachute with him. The case is being investigated by federal authorities and the National Transportation Safety Board, an investigative agency of the US government regarding accidents involving the civilian transportation system.
