CNSCBT: 204 cases of clinical flu, reported …

A total of 204 cases of clinical flu were reported nationwide in the week of November 29-December 5, about four times more than the same week in 2020, according to a report by the National Center for Communicable Disease Surveillance and Control (CNSCBT). This season, only one case of influenza was confirmed in the laboratory, the one announced in Bucharest in November.


According to the CNSCBT, at the national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (clinical flu, IACRS and pneumonia) was 33,067, 4% higher than in the same week of the previous season (31,784) and 9, 6% lower than the previous week (36,586).

Thus, in the week of November 29 – December 5, 204 cases of clinical influenza were reported nationwide, compared to 48 cases registered in S 48/2020.

In the same period, there were 5 cases of Acute Severe Respiratory Infections (SARI), 3 less than the previous week and zero in the same period of the previous season.

The quoted source specified that, from the beginning of the season, a case of influenza, with influenza B virus, was confirmed in the laboratory, in Bucharest. No confirmed deaths from influenza virus have been reported.

As of December 5, 765,956 people from at-risk groups had been vaccinated against the flu with a vaccine distributed by the Ministry of Health.
