“I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague, with whom I have worked for over 20 years. I acknowledged that the relationship had developed in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it started, but I did not. I was wrong As a result, I am resigning today,” Zucker said in an address to the broadcaster.

He did not name the beloved, but, as noted by CNN, this is Allison Gollust, his key assistant.

In her own statement, Hollast elaborated that she and Jeff have been “close friends and professional partners for over 20 years.” Their relationship changed during the COVID-19 pandemic and Allison regrets they didn’t reveal it at the right time.

Zucker and Gollust divorced their partners many years ago. Rumors that their close working relationship had developed into a romantic one appeared from time to time in gossip columns.

Jeff, 55, took over CNN in early 2013. Prior to that, he worked for NBC for about 25 years, going from an ordinary employee to the head of the channel.
