The National Electoral Council (CNE) reported that next Wednesday, March 8, it will install the technical commission that will determine the scope of eventual assistance from the electoral body in the primary election called by the Unitary Platform for October 22.
The members of the National Primary Commission (CNdP) and the rectors of the CNE Roberto Picón, Carlos Quintero and Leonel Parica will be present at said meeting, who will be coordinated by the president of the electoral entity, Pedro Calzadilla.
One of the requests raised by the Primary Commission is that the schools that function as voting centers be enabled for this election. The opposition has also requested that operations to register and update the Electoral Registry be activated inside and outside Venezuela.
However, the appointment of this technical commission of the CNE has generated controversy due to the presence of substitute rector Carlos Quintero, who is a key figure of Chavismo and in practice has been one of the most powerful within the Electoral Power.
Quintero has participated in the logistics of almost 20 electoral processes and was accused by the former head of counterintelligence, Hugo “El Pollo” Carvajal, of being responsible for the “electoral fraud” executed by the CNE.
