CM MasterCase EG200: Do your own external GPU in style

Of course, the Cooler Master MasterCase EG200 cannot be just an empty case, as it requires non-standard hardware, especially a suitable motherboard, through which the graphics card is connected to the computer and also the power supply. In fact, the only thing we don’t get with the EG200 is the most important thing, or the graphics themselves.

This is a common external graphic, but in a barebone design, while the installation can be done by anyone who has ever seen a screwdriver at some time in their life and knows that the card belongs to the slot and it is necessary to connect additional power to it.

As usual, we have as the main interface Thunderbolt 3 with a throughput of 40 Gb / s (equivalent to PCIe 3.0 x4), while the same cable can be connected to the connected laptop up to 60 W. We also have an integrated laptop stand, which can be placed perpendicular to the right side wardrobes. Under the hinged front of the cabinet, we have a position for one 2.5 “or 3.5” device with SATA interface.

The graphic (or other) card can have dimensions of 325 x 54 x 141 mm and a 550W Cooler Master V Gold SFX power supply (1x 24 pin, 2x 6 + 2 pin PCI-e, 1x SATA power) is ready for it. On the back panel of the cabinet we find three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and unfortunately that goes out. The cabinet is not equipped with Ethernet, which would fit here, so it will be necessary to connect to the network using the laptop itself. And it also looks like the USB interface will not be operated via Thunderbolt, as we also have the Micro-B 3.2 Gen 1 input port here.

The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 383 x 140 x 208 mm and cooling is provided by one top 92mm fan with a speed of up to 2600 RPM.
