The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that this week another 930,000 doses of influenza vaccine will reach the public health departments and later in the family doctors’ offices.

“With the doses distributed this week, the Ministry of Health has distributed 2,430,000 vaccine doses, representing over 80% of the total number purchased for the season 2020 – 2021. As part of the free vaccination campaign, recalls the quoted source, people over the age of 65 with chronic diseases, especially respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, metabolic diseases, institutionalized children and the elderly, medical staff and pregnant women are immunized with priority. , according to WHO and ECDC recommendations.

As every year, the campaign of the Ministry of Health is carried out through family doctors’ offices and in sanitary units with beds. The distribution of vaccine doses to the public health departments is done in several stages.

As of November 15, 652,393 people from the risk categories were immunized during the free vaccination campaign, the quoted communiqué reads.

According to INSP, at national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (clinical influenza, IACRS and pneumonia) was 43,871, 48.1% lower than in the same week of the previous season (84,603) and with 2.6% lower compared to the previous week (45,068).

To date, only one laboratory-confirmed case of influenza has been reported.
