Last winter, half the world seemed to want to hang out at Clubhouse, the hot new voice chat app that only existed for iOS and required an invitation to join.
Since then, the app’s popularity has fallen sharply and the number of downloads per day is a fraction compared to February, according to estimates from Appmagic, among others. Part of the developers’ strategy to keep the app alive is an Android version, and it has now been launched, reports Tech Crunch.
One reason why the downloads have decreased may be that Clubhouse still insists on only letting people in via invitations. Clubhouse writes that the Android version will also roll out in rounds starting in the US followed by other English-speaking countries.
