Vincent Mannaert, general manager of Club Brugge, has been convicted of drunk driving and hit and run. In November last year, the 47-year-old driver was involved in a pile-up that left one injured. He apologized but then ran away.
That reports The last news. Mannaert is not aware of any harm, although he left the scene of the accident. “Because a sixth car had hit the cars and we risked our lives there,” he explained his departure to the judge.
However, the judge was not lenient on Mannaert, as he was not the first time involved in an incident involving excessive alcohol consumption behind the wheel. The general manager of Club Brugge was fined a total of 8,000 euros, a driving ban of fifteen months and an alcolock of three years. In addition, Mannaert also has to pass medical and psychological tests and then pass his theoretical and practical driving test again.
It is not the first time that Mannaert has been convicted after an incident involving the car. At the end of May, he was fined 3,200 euros, a three-month driving ban and an alcohol interlock for one year when he was pulled over by the police and had 2.44 permille in his blood. In 2011, the director drove into a house with the car, for which he was fined 1,100 euros and a driving ban of one month.
