Clownviertel: The Third Installment of Acclaimed Trilogy Released at Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba

Available to the public this Monday at the national headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac), “Clownviertel” is the third of a trilogy preceded by Clownsicos and Clownpuerta.

The theatrical piece combines humor, music, clown techniques and the participation of spectators in a show worthy of the Villanueva 2023 Award.

A clown, a clown, is more than being an actor or actress; By arriving last in the existence of the entire theater in general, he was born without intending it, he appropriated the techniques and became an integral actor, not out of grandiloquence but out of necessity, declared Parra himself.

For its part, the presentation of the book “Clownteo regresivo”, by Ediciones Alarcos, took place in the Villena room at Uneac; It is a narrative compilation of the history and evolution of Teatro Tuyo made by critics, theater scientists and intellectuals.

The book is a delight, above all, for the public that has not been able to attend the shows; It has that enjoyment that is the gaze of the other, declared Yudd Favier, critic and researcher at the University of the Arts, who also collaborated with its creation.

The founder Ernesto Parra and the theatrologists Yudd Favier, Vladimir Peraza and Marylin Garbey, also debated the creative process of Teatro Tuyo in the colloquium “How do you make a path?”

The three events are part of the program of activities for Jornada Villanueva, whose celebrations for the 155th anniversary of Cuban theater will last until January 28.

The Teatro Tuyo theater company, founded on January 15, 1999 and directed by Ernesto Parra, is the only one of its kind in the country, since the actors use the clown technique in their presentations.
