musicTarkastaja or Clouseau was the headliner of Pukkelpop this year. With an excuse, Koen (55) and Kris (58) Wauters tried to be at the festival in Kiewit and whether they succeeded. The roof of the Marquee flew off. Almost a year of preparations preceded their legendary performance. What they all did, the brothers now share on their Instagram page.
The festival-goers were sure that Tarkastaja was not a Finnish band. That it would be Clouseau, not quite. Almost a year of preparations ensured that Koen and Kris could perform at Pukkelpop under the guise of two Finnish brothers.
The first brainstorm for the Tarkastaja project already took place on November 10, 2022. Those present: Koen and Kris themselves, of course, but also Jo Hermans, musician and the creator of the concept, Johan P. Berckmans, the manager of Clouseau and Frederik Luyten and Eppo Janssen from Pukkelpop.

The concept is good, now to action. On April 21 they will record their single ‘Fuck ’em All’. In a few videos from that day it becomes clear how the song came about. Two months later, on July 19, it is time for a corresponding video clip. There Koen and Kris get acquainted with their outfits. On August 8, the brothers rehearse for their performance and their ‘reveal’, so that they would take off the masks at the same time.
Then it’s August 19, D-day. After a few sound checks, it’s time for the Pukkelpop performance at 1 pm. Tarkastaja walks onto the stage with a mysterious voice announcing the duo. The Instagram post now shows that none other than DAAN made that recording for Clouseau. With some effects it was barely audible. After their ‘Fuck ’em All’ song, the moment has arrived. Koen and Kris take off their masks on the first notes of ‘Nobel Prize’. Clouseau plays the Marquee flat for an hour.
