A series of Lidl brand clothes sold exclusively in Belgium is generating great enthusiasm on social networks and certain products are already sold for more than 10 times their price on eBay.
“Are you the biggest Lidl fan? Show it and dress up with our own collection.” On its Belgian site, the hard-discount chain announces the color. This summer, you will be able to wear the entire Lidl range on the beach, from tap dancing to t-shirts, socks and sneakers.
The distributor will sell this collection of clothing with the brand’s logo from July 4. Products offered between 99 cents (socks) and 12.99 euros (sneakers).
A series of collector’s clothes which surprisingly arouses a strong craze on the Internet especially on Twitter where the tweets which speak about it are very shared. The Lidl brand is even one of the most shared discussion topics on the social network this Wednesday.
Already sold in April on the Belgian discounter site, these Lidl products were quickly sold out. So much so that some products are blazing for resale on eBay. The auction for these sneakers in size 46 already reaches 151 euros, more than 12 times their original selling price.
A craze that can surprise. The Lidl brand is not a priori considered trendy like Nike or Adidas. This is precisely what explains the success of these products which attract the support of hipsters, people connected to the internet who like to appropriate popular brands in a form of derision.
A success that goes a bit beyond Lidl who was not in such a step. Joined by BFM Eco, Lidl France also ensures that these products should not a priori be sold in France. Given the success encountered on the internet, the brand may change its mind.
