‘Cloth threatens to fall for Flybe’ | Financial

Flybe, which has a fleet of around 75 aircraft, has been doing well for some time and flies to more than eighty airports in the United Kingdom and Europe. The outbreak of the new corona virus has probably put the company in extra trouble. As a result, the demand for airline tickets has come under considerable pressure.

Recently Flybe, with a total of 2000 employees, seemed rescued because the British government wanted to help the company. Industry colleagues such as British Airways mother IAG and price fighter Ryanair didn’t like that at all. They saw the aid plans as illegal state aid.

The problems with the business model at Flybe are not isolated. Industry counterparts such as Monarch Airlines, Air Berlin, Wow Air and Aigle Azur and a series of smaller players have already died. Tour operator Thomas Cook, which had its own aircraft, also recently went bankrupt.
