Heavy snowfall in the mountains and the arrival of low temperatures have forced authorities to keep the Pehuenche international pass closed and to activate emergency measures in the Maule region.
Las extreme weather conditions continue to affect the region of Maule after two consecutive frontal systems that hit the area last week. These meteorological phenomena brought heavy rain and winds in the valleys, accompanied by heavy snowfall in the high mountain range. As a result, the Regional Presidential Delegate, Humberto Aquevequeconfirmed the temporary closure of the Pehuenche International Passdue to the accumulation of snow and low temperatures that complicate traffic.

To mitigate the impact of these adverse weather conditions, the Presidential Delegate ratified the activation of the Blue Codean emergency measure coordinated with Social development to assist homeless people. This initiative will be implemented in the cities of Curicó y Talca until Thursday, August 8, with the deployment of the street route to provide help to those in need.
