Recently, a resident of Wah Fu Estate discovered that a “long-established” pharmacy in the estate that had stood for more than half a century had announced its closure. He posted a message on social media and said, “Another pharmacy will be closed. This one will have a big impact.” This attracted a large number of netizens. Hot discussion.
Located downstairs from Wah Kwong, the “Wah Fu Chinese and Western Medicine Store” on the shopping mall podium has been open for 55 years. In addition to witnessing the various changes in Wah Fu Estate, it is also a daily necessities store frequently visited by the neighborhood. However, recently, the outside of the store has Hang a big note saying “Glorious Graduation Clearance Sale”.
The store owner commented on the post, “Time flies so fast. I have also grown up in Wah Fu Estate since I was a child. It is also very difficult to make this decision. There is no other way. As my colleagues are so old and young, it is time to let go.” He also thanked the neighbors for many years. Generations of support come. As for the two cats “Ling Ye” and “Benz” that the neighbors miss, the store owner said he will take them home and the store will operate until mid-March this year.
As soon as the news came out, some neighbors bluntly said that they suddenly felt “very reluctant to part with it”, “I’m really unhappy to see it”, “I have a lot of things to buy here”, and lamented that in recent years, “restaurants, pharmacies, and tea restaurants are not open late.” The city, the bus cut line… We have not been relocated, and this place is quickly becoming a dead city.” Some people also think that the demolition of Wah Fu has not really started yet. “Some shops are so stubborn that they completely affect the needs of local residents.”

Wah Fu Estate was completed in 1968. It is one of the public housing estates planned and constructed by the predecessor of the Housing Authority (the Hong Kong Buildings and Construction Board). Some of the buildings have views of the sea and the nearby Bel-Air. It was once known as the “people’s luxury house”. The Housing Authority announced in November 2020 that Wah Fu Estate will be redeveloped and will be demolished in three phases.
