closure of a “clandestine” school in Bobigny

A few days after Emmanuel Macron’s speech against separatism, a “clandestine” school was closed on Thursday in Bobigny in Seine-Saint-Denis as part of the fight against radical Islam. About twenty children of school age were present this morning.

The Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture has announced that it has closed a school located in premises hosting the “Learning and Understanding” association in Bobigny. About twenty children, of primary school age, were on the scene this morning. This school can accommodate nearly 80 students. “Some, very young were veiled“said a police source to AFP.

Contacted, the new municipality of Bobigny claimed to know neither the school nor the association which is located near the Bondy bridge, a district with “diffuse urbanism”. “The association has never made any requests for premises or subsidies” she said. The closure was decided as part of a departmental security visit, said the town hall. “The deplorable sanitary conditions and fire safety problems put children’s lives at risk. The premises also had no playground,” the police source continued.“.

Parents of the children of this clandestine school are known to be linked to radical Islam.“Some children and supervisors came from the school of Aulnay sous-Bois, closed in January. The teaching was done without any authorization and without any respect for sanitary procedures“, explains this same source.

According to the prefecture of Seine-Saint-Denis, around fifteen establishments including clandestine schools, places of worship, sports halls and restaurants, have been closed in Seine-Saint-Denis since 2018.

This new closure comes a few days after Emmanuel Macron’s speech as part of the future bill against separatism.
