Closing Conference of the Short Forms Beyond Borders Project: Exploring Innovative Pedagogy and Cultural Mediation

The University of Angers is hosting on July 10, 11 and 12, at the Maison de la recherche Germaine-Tillion, the closing conference of the project Short Forms Beyond Borders (SFBB), European project Erasmus + “Strategic partnerships”.

The SFBB project, brought to the UA by the “News and short forms” team of the Interdisciplinary Center for Research on Heritage in Letters and Languages ​​(CiRPaLL) articulates research and innovative pedagogy around the notion of “short forms”, and the objects of study and tools that constitute brief formats as diverse as news, micro-news, tweets, pitches, Facebook or Instagram posts, short videos, fanfiction, short films, news flashes, street art, cartoons, songs, etc. Launched in September 2020, and endowed by theAgence France Erasmus+ of 231,000 euros, it associates the universities of Angers (France), Leuven (Belgium), Giessen (Germany), Szeged (Hungary), Athens (Greece), and Santiago de Compostela (Spain) – and the company Baludik. Their common objective: to develop a pedagogy
innovative, around tools of cultural, educational and social mediation in Europe, reflecting in particular on questions of identity and integration.

Conferences, workshops, readings

Open to all those who are interested in pedagogy or short forms, the colloquium “Short Forms in the Classroom : Breaking Down Boundaries / Short Forms in the Classroom: Abolishing Borders” is the event for the restitution of their work. It will meet a triple objective:

a presentation of the results of innovative educational experiments around short forms (study, use, creation of various short forms in a school or university setting); more theoretical interventions by French and foreign speakers, who consider the question of short formats in their disciplinary field (literature, communication, culture, social mediation, sociology, didactics, psychology, etc.); an opening to other approaches to short forms: writing and drawing workshop, theatrical staging of a short fiction, exhibition of small formats, reading of a short story and talk.

Conferences by authors such as Ailsa Cox, Ruby Cowling, Martine Hennard Dutheil de la Rochere are notably on the program. A writing and drawing workshop organized by Anne Pauzet et Blandine Mulliez is also scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday 11 July. In parallel, Susan Harloweone of the two founding artistic directors of the Word for Word Performing Arts Company in San Francisco, will lead a workshop that will culminate in a theatrical performance.
