Closer to start with booster vaccination | Peel and Maas

The first healthcare employees of Dichterbij received their third corona vaccine on Wednesday evening. The first residents of Dichterbij have now also received their so-called booster shot from the vaccination teams. Hylke Kerstens, vaccine project leader: “Over the next three weeks, we can offer a total of around 5,000 clients and employees the opportunity for extra protection against the corona virus. We are extremely grateful for that!”

At the beginning of this month, healthcare institutions were told that they could start preparations for the booster vaccination. “We did that immediately, even though there were still quite a few open ends,” says Kerstens. “When the vaccines would be delivered, for example. I am more than proud that we managed to get off the starting blocks so quickly. In this case, that is really a team effort of many colleagues: taking care of each other, together. But also think of the clients and relatives. This is another moment of choice for them too.”

Marell Michels, service coordinator at Dichterbij, is one of the first Dichterbij employees to be vaccinated last night: “I am very happy with this booster shot. As far as I’m concerned, it’s one of the right and smart things I can do to protect myself and those around me. Especially given the vulnerable target group with whom I work. It really gives me peace of mind.”

Closer to home, the aim is to have all residents – who are willing and able – vaccinated by 7 December at the latest. Kerstens: “About 800 homes in three weeks. It’s a real operation, but a feasible one. Several evenings are available for employees every week to receive their vaccination. Then we do it at locations throughout our working area, so that we limit the travel time for them. Thursday 16 December is the last vaccination moment. Anyone who is willing and able to be vaccinated before the holidays. As far as I’m concerned, that’s a nice thought!”
