closed session of the Marcel-Picot stadium pending a final decision on May 4, 2022

The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League examined this Monday, April 25 the incidents of the Ligue 2 match in Nancy between ASNL and Quevilly-Rouen. She decided “to put the file under investigation and pronounce as a precaution a total closed session of the Marcel-Picot stadium until the pronouncement of the final decision”, May 4, 2022.

The Disciplinary Committee of the professional football league met this Monday April 25, 2022 to examine the incidents of the Ligue 2 match between Nancy and Quevilly-Rouen. The meeting was stopped on Friday after fans threw smoke bombs protesting against Nancy’s relegation.

It has been recorded that “In view of the incidents that occurred during the match AS Nancy Lorraine – Quevilly Rouen (35th day of Ligue 2 BKT), the LFP Disciplinary Committee decides to put the file under investigation and pronounces the following measure as a precaution: Behind closed doors at the Marcel-Picot stadium until the final decision is pronounced. The decision will be made at the end of the session on Wednesday May 4, 2022 during which the instructor will submit his report.

Clearly, Nancy will face Nimes behind closed doors on Saturday April 30, 2022 and will have to wait to find out if the commission gives the match lost on the green carpet. Which is very likely.

Since its creation in 1967, the ASNL had never played in the third division. The club experienced its golden age in the 1970s when, thanks to a goal from Michel Platini, the Lorraine region won the Coupe de France (1978) by beating Nice.

A victory in the Coupe de la Ligue (2006) is the second most glorious line on the record of Nancy, who have also won the second division French championship five times.

ASNL was still playing in Ligue 1 in 2017. (With AFP)
