Closed discos and masks in public places from 6 to 6 – Politics & Institutions

Stop the derogations of the regions: the discos will have to close and the obligation to wear masks from 18 to 6 in the morning in places and premises open to the public and in places where it is easier to create gatherings is triggered. This is foreseen by the ordinance signed by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza at the end of the discussion with the presidents of the Regions which was also attended by the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga. “We give a signal to the country that attention must be kept high”, said Speranza, adding that “the sacrifices made in the past months cannot be undone: our priority must be to reopen schools in September in complete safety”.

As far as discos are concerned, economic support will be given to businesses forced to stop. “The expected damage from the closure of the discos is great, but I see no alternatives: more attention is needed to avoid returning to the March data”, comments the Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli from Trieste who participated in the videoconference convened by the Minister of Affairs regional Francesco Boccia. “We will do everything possible – he added – to give economic support to the activities that will have losses by finding specific refreshment posts also in the August decree”.

The Regions will therefore have to adapt to the Prime Ministerial Decree of 7 August which states: “activities that take place in ballrooms and discos and similar venues, outdoors or indoors, remain suspended”.

Even before the ordinance of 16 August, after the pressure of the Government of the previous days, some Regions – Veneto and Emilia Romagna – had limited access to discos, amid protests from managers, while Basilicata has banned their activity, following the example of Calabria. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, however, the governor Fedriga had chosen to keep the rules unchanged and the activities of the discos open.

And the Region takes note of the Government’s decision to suspend all dance activities, but in a note published on the institutional website of the regional council it expresses its opposition to the provisions laid down in the ordinance of the Ministry of Health.

“The request, made by Governor Fedriga during the videoconference, to identify a mediation, such as the introduction of the obligatory nature of masks on dance floors, which could guarantee the interested businesses to be able to continue their business “. Finally, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region underlines “the contradictions of an ordinance that is difficult to apply, which severely hits a specific sector without having statistical evidence of a correlation between dancing and the coronavirus cases recorded in recent weeks and which does not resolve at the origin or the issue of containing contagions nor that relating to respect for social distancing and the use of personal protective equipment “.
