‘Close’ wins seven prizes at the Magritte du Cinéma

The film Close Lukas Dhont won seven prizes at the presentation of the Magritte du Cinéma, the French-language film prizes, on Saturday evening in Brussels.

Close was able to redeem seven of the ten nominations and won the Magritte for best Flemish film, best screenplay (Dhont and Angelo Tijssens), best cinematography and best set. Leading actor Eden Dambrine was awarded best young male talent, Emilie Dequenne won best supporting actress and Igor Van Dessel won best supporting actor.

Nobody has to know Bouli Lanners was voted best film, he himself also won the Magritte for best director and best actor for his role in The night of 12. That film was also awarded as the best foreign production.

Virginie Efira won the Magritte for best actress for her role inSee Paris again, a film about an attack in a Parisian brasserie, for which she has already received an award from the Césars.

I don’t give a fuck was nominated in nine categories, and eventually collected three Magrittes for best début, best costumes and best editing. Rebel was awarded the Magritte for best original music.
