Krefeld / Straubing (dpa) – In the midst of the corona vortex in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), title candidate Adler Mannheim has done his duty.
The 2019 champions won just 3: 2 (1: 0, 1: 1, 1: 1) at the Krefeld Penguins on Sunday and secured his sixth victory in a row in the DEL.
National strikers Tim Wohlgemuth, Joonas Lehtivuori and Jason Blast shot the eagles to success. Niclas Lucenius was successful for Krefeld, the connection of Lucas Lessio just under a minute before the end was no longer enough for extra time.
Meanwhile, promoted Bietigheim Steelers lost again after the 3:10 debacle last Wednesday in Bremerhaven and lost to the Straubing Tigers 1: 4 (1: 3, 0: 0, 0: 1).
Aside from sport, the corona cases are the topic in the DEL and are increasingly causing problems. On Sunday there was the next cancellation with the Iserlohn Roosters away game against the Augsburg Panthers. A player from Iserlohn was tested positive and is in quarantine, “all other players” in isolation for the time being, said the Roosters. In the past few days, numerous corona infections had already occurred at the EHC Munich and the Düsseldorfer EG and had led to the game being postponed.
