Close fight for the title in the Open Bowling Handicap Tournament – – 2024-03-03 17:26:25

Luis Bendeck managed to remain in first place in the classification with a total of 5,158 points at the end of the fourth round in the Open Bowling Handicap Tournament, however, the title is still not defined.

The penultimate date of the tournament left the fight for the title open, since second place is occupied by Rudy Quintanilla with a score of 5,068 and in third place is Eduardo Fajardo with 4,936.

At 16 years old, Eduardo, son of the national team and beneficiary of the Effort and Glory Program, Roxana Fajardo, had another good day and has clear options to achieve a place on the podium.

Eduardo, national preselected, shot two lines of 200 points and in the fourth he recorded a score of 237.

“It is the smallest in the federation, it is youth, and there it is rubbing up against the greats. He played super well and held his own. He has been working, but the last date is still missing and anything can happen,” said Roxana.

“I am very happy and proud as a mother, I am also an athlete and I know what it means to be fighting for a place on the podium. I am satisfied that she is even above me, still being a youth athlete, she has a career ahead of her,” stressed the bowler, who placed in box 11 with 4,697.

In fourth position is Jorge Antela, who with 4,936 points is also in the fight for third position.

With these scores, the fifth and final date, which will begin this Monday with the actions in group A, will be decisive.

“From first position to tenth is very close and they still have a chance with a date missing for it to end. We have people who play for fun and high-performance people, so putting them to compete in a tournament that gives them a bonus, which is the handicap, allows them to compete under similar scoring conditions with elite athletes,” explained Mauricio Galdámez, technical manager. of the Salvadoran Bowling Federation (Fesabowl).

According to Fesabowl data, 42 athletes participate in the Open Handicap Tournament, the second competition of the year for this sport after the First Major Preselective.
