The Los Angeles Clippers have closed the gap with the Dallas Mavericks in the third game of the series of the first round of the NBA ‘Playoffs’ (2-1) after surviving Luka Doncic’s 44 points and prevailing at the American Airlines Center (108-118), on a day in which the Boston Celtics cut the Brooklyn Nets (125-119) and the Atlanta Hawks beat the New York Knicks (105-94).
The Clippers, protected by Kawhi Leonard’s 36 goals and without the Spanish-Congolese Serge Ibaka due to a back injury, recovered from a horrible start that left them 19 points behind in the first quarter. Thus, they make sure to take the tie back to Los Angeles in the fifth game.
All in a night in which Doncic was once again the leader of the Texans, who suffered too much in the inside game; The Slovenian had 44 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists, a record that so far had only been achieved in the Playoffs by Russell Westbrook (twice), Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Magic Johnson.
For their part, the Boston Celtics is still alive against the Brooklyn Nets after winning their first game of the series (125-119) thanks to the excellent performance of Jayson Tatum. The forward lifted TD Garden with his 50 points to neutralize the almighty ‘Big 3’: James Harden (41), Kevin Durant (39) and Kyrie Irving (16), who returned to what was his home between 2017 and 2019.
