Defeated in the first two games of the series, the Clippers pulverized Utah (132-106) Saturday night at Staples Center in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals. Nicolas Batum’s Californians regain hope at the same time.
The Clippers Awakening! Badly embarked after the first two games of their semifinal in the West against Utah, both won by the Jazz on their court (112-109 and 117-111), the Californians revived Saturday night by pulverizing (132-106) Rudy Gobert’s teammates in Game 3 of the series, their first at Staples Center. Led by their two leaders Kawhi Leonard (34 points, 12 rebounds) and Paul George (31 points), the Clippers have taken a step forward in this meeting. At the end of the first quarter (27-23), Nicolas Batum’s team, very prominent on Saturday night (17 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 interception), was nevertheless still under threat from Rudy Gobert’s (12 points , 10 rebounds), recently voted the league’s best defender for the third time in four years.
Concern for Mitchell
Total team effort.

Unfortunately for the Saint-Quentin native and his associates, the Californians quickly cut the suspense. From fifteen points at halftime (64-49), the gap went from the restart to 17 lengths in favor of the Los Angeles franchise, which finally left its victim of the day at 26 units. An evening to forget more quickly that Jazz star Donovan Mitchell, author of 30 points in this part, got scared at the end of the game by falling on his left ankle while the victory of the Clippers was no more. The shadow of a doubt. An injury (the back left the field limping low) that could seriously hurt Utah for the next few games. And play the Clippers game.
