In the Los Angeles game, the Clippers defeated the Lakers 104-86 on Sunday, orphans of their stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while the Brooklyn Nets also paid for James Harden’s absence against the Chicago Bulls.
Kawhi Leonard, with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, and Paul George, with 16 points, led the comfortable victory of the Clippers, who played at Staples Center at home.
Veteran Rajon Rondo, winner of the ring last year with the Lakers, debuted in the Clippers uniform with 2 points in 13 minutes.
The 35-year-old point guard arrived last week at the close of the market from the Atlanta Hawks, who received veteran guard Lou Williams in exchange.
The Lakers, meanwhile, added their fifth loss in the eight games since LeBron James’ ankle injury.
The Spanish pivot Marc Gasol, who started for the loss of the recently signed Andre Drummond, with 11 points and the substitute Montrezl Harrell with 19 led the attack of the Lakers, who fell to fifth position in the West.

All-Star guard Zach Lavine, with 25 points, and Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky, with 19 points and 11 rebounds, also shone for the Bulls, who occupy the 10th position in the East.
The Nets, second from the East, placed veteran centers LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin, recent signings, in the starting line-up in an experiment that did not work.
Overtaken both by Chicago’s tall men, Aldridge finished with 11 points and Griffin with 10.
Harden’s absence, with a hamstring problem, coupled with Kevin Durant’s long-term injury, left Kyrie Irving the Nets’ only star on the track, scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds.
