Clippers also win the third game against Phoenix

Chris Paul returns to the Phoenix Suns, but the Los Angeles Clippers decide the third game for themselves. Paul George breaks the 20-point mark again.

The Los Angeles Clippers have done it again: After falling 0-2 in a series, to win the third game. The Clippers won their home game against the Phoenix Suns with 106-92 to get their first win in the Western Conference Finals. And that although Chris Paul had returned to the Suns after his corona infection.

Also in the first round against the Dallas Mavericks and in the second round against the Utah Jazz, the Clippers had lost the first two games to win the third (and fourth) game.

The third quarter was decisive against the Suns: It went 34:21 to the home side, who turned a two-point deficit at halftime into an eleven-point lead over the fourth quarter.

The Clippers recorded a 21: 3 run, Terance Mann scored eight points in this phase. Paul George also played an important role, as in the third quarter: Ten points and three assists were in the box score for the winger. George finished the run with a buzzerbeater from the center line.

In the end, George had 27 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, making the winger the 16-point mark in a row. Reggie Jackson followed on 23 points.

The Suns could not be shaken off completely in the fourth quarter, the Dagger three for the Clippers finally got Patrick Beverley: at 2:20 minutes to play for 104: 88.

Chris Paul put on a double-double of 15 points and twelve assists on his comeback, but only hit five of his 19 field throws. “He was probably getting tired,” said Suns coach Monty Williams. “After Cameron Payne couldn’t come back, I left Chris on the floor for a longer period – that’s on me.” Payne, who had strongly represented Paul in his absence, injured his ankle and only played four minutes.

For the Suns it was the first defeat after nine playoff wins in a row, with which Phoenix had set a new franchise record.
