Clint Frazier feels pressure to be the starter

For the past few seasons, outfielder Clint Frazier has not had the best of luck with the New York Yankees, Since when it finally seems that he will be the team’s starting outfielder, a number of things have happened: His brain concussion from a few seasons ago, the occasional injury and even game losses that have cost him his development as an MLB player at 26 years old.

Now heading to 2021, Frazier seems to be a priori Aaron Boone’s selection to complete the third outfielder, with Brett Gardner now being seen as a bench rather than a starter, where he would accompany Aaron Hicks and Aaron, and as commented to Kristie Acker of The New York Daily News, the pressure is now on keeping that starting job.

For me, the biggest difference (between other years and this one) is that I feel an added pressure on my shoulders to maintain the starting position. I’ve tried to earn the job and I think in a way I have it now. Brett obviously kept it for the longest time and there are a lot of other guys capable of doing the job, but I’m really just trying to have fun. That’s what the game is about, having fun. However, it’s also a numbers game, but I feel pretty good about the offseason I had and how I’m doing so far with my preseason.

The Colorado Frazier has spent his entire professional career with the New York Yankees, debuting in 2017. He has played exactly 162 MLB games and is batting .258 with 82 RBIs, 24 home runs, 113 OPS + and 1.5 WAR.
