Clint Eastwood (90) brings the novel “Cry Macho” to the cinema and plays the leading role himself

The Angels. Hollywood veteran Clint Eastwood brings his 39th directorial work to the big screen. The film adaptation of “Cry Macho” is due to open in US cinemas at the end of October, as the Warner Bros. studio announced on Monday (local time). The 90-year-old Eastwood also stars in a former rodeo rider in the 1970s who accepts an unusual assignment from his ex-boss. He is supposed to bring his son back from Mexico to Texas from the care of his alcoholic mother.

In addition to Eastwood, the young Mexican Eduardo Minett and US country singer Dwight Yoakam also play. Filming was completed in December.

Four-time Oscar winner Eastwood (“Merciless”, “Million Dollar Baby”) most recently directed “The Richard Jewell Case” (2020). The factual drama revolved around the bomb attack at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, in which security guard Richard Jewell was falsely suspected as a perpetrator. Eastwood starred as an actor in the drug thriller “The Mule” in 2019 in the lead role of an aged drug courier.
