The accident happened in Bamble, more specifically at Tegdalsåsen near Valle.
The climber, a man from Skien, is said to be critically injured after a fall.
Assignment leader in the southeastern police district, Vegard Møane, says VG that the patient is carried out from the scene of the accident.
– He is described as critically injured and will be flown to Ullevål Hospital, he informs the newspaper.
The police arrived at the scene together with an ambulance and fire brigade.

The man in his fifties was on a climbing trip with several others when the accident happened.
Tegdal has terrain and mountain walls that are popular with climbers.
– There was another climber who reported the accident. Health personnel are working with the patient on the ground now, Jan Kristian Johnsrud, operations manager in the Southeast police district, told NRK shortly after the incident.
The climbing wall is located some distance from the road, which makes the rescue work more complicated.
An air ambulance was ordered after the accident in Bamble on Sunday.
