Climate, Weather, General Weather Forecast Warning No.: 325

Mexico City, June 12, 2022. Broadcast: 06:00 a.m. National Meteorological Service, official source of the Government of Mexico, issues the following notice:

LOW PRESSURE ZONE AND MONSOON TROUGH KEEP VERY STRONG RAINS IN THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST OF MEXICO

This day, the low pressure zone with probability for cyclonic development will continue to intensify and, in combination with the influx of moisture generated by the monsoon trough, will maintain heavy to very heavy rains in Jalisco, Colima, Guerrero and Oaxaca, which could generate an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides and floods. Low pressure channels will prevail over the north, northeast, west, center and southeast of Mexico and, in interaction with higher atmospheric instability and with the entry of moisture from the Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea, will generate afternoon showers and heavy rains with very strong punctual and electrical discharges over the aforementioned regions, including the Valley of Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, in addition to possible hail in areas of the north, west and center of the country. In turn, strong winds are forecast with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h and dust storms over entities in the north and northeast of the national territory. Tropical wave No. 4 will approach the southeast of Chiapas and will reinforce the rains in said entity; however, in the course of the day it will be absorbed by the monsoon trough. Finally, an anticyclonic circulation in the middle levels of the atmosphere will keep the afternoon environment warm to hot in a large part of the Mexican territory with temperatures above 45°C in Baja California.

Precipitation forecast for today June 12, 2022:

Heavy rains with very strong punctual rains (50 to 75 mm): Michoacán, Jalisco, Guerrero (coast), Veracruz, Oaxaca (coast) and Chiapas (south).
Intervals of showers with strong punctual rains (25 to 50 mm): Chihuahua, Colima and State of Mexico.
Intervals of showers (5 to 25 mm): Sonora, Durango, Sinaloa, Nayarit, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Mexico City, Tlaxcala, Morelos, Puebla, Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo.
Isolated rains (0.1 to 5 mm): Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Aguascalientes and Yucatán.

The rains will be accompanied by electric shocks, strong winds and probable hail fall. Which will cause possible landslides and floods in the south and southeast of Mexico.

Minimum temperatures from 0 to 5 °C: mountainous areas of the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla and Tlaxcala.

Maximum temperatures above 45 °C: Baja California.
Maximum temperatures from 40 to 45 °C: Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí (east), Veracruz (north) and Nayarit.
Maximum temperatures from 35 to 40 °C: Baja California Sur, Durango, Zacatecas (north and south), Puebla (north), Hidalgo (north), Jalisco, Michoacán, Campeche and Yucatán.
Maximum temperatures from 30 to 35 °C: Colima, Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Morelos, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco and Quintana Roo.

Wind forecast for today June 12, 2022:

Wind with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h and dust storms: Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
Wind with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h: Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Guanajuato and the coasts of Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatán.

Forecast by regions:
Valley of Mexico: Partly cloudy sky and temperate atmosphere at dawn. In the afternoon, cloudy skies with the probability of rain and intervals of showers in Mexico City and strong punctual rains in the southwest of the State of Mexico, both with electric shocks. East component wind from 10 to 25 km/h with gusts of up to 40 km/h in rainy areas. In Mexico City, a minimum temperature of 13 to 15 °C and a maximum of 24 to 26 °C is forecast. For the capital of the State of Mexico, minimum temperature of 8 to 10 °C and maximum of 21 to 23 °C.

Baja California Peninsula: Partly cloudy sky throughout the day, without rain in the region. Cool to mild in the morning and hot to very hot in the afternoon, as well as extremely hot in northeastern Baja California. West and northwest wind from 10 to 25 km/h with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h.

North Pacific: Partly cloudy sky in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon with showers in Sonora and Sinaloa; both with electric shocks and possible hail fall. Mild environment in the morning and hot to very hot in the afternoon. West and southwest wind from 10 to 25 km/h in the region with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Sonora.

Central Pacific: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies most of the day with very heavy punctual rains in Michoacán and Jalisco, strong in Colima, as well as showers in Nayarit; all with electric shocks and possible hail fall. Temperate morning atmosphere with fog banks at dawn in mountain areas; warm to hot in the afternoon and very hot in parts of Nayarit. West and southwest wind from 10 to 25 km/h in the region with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in eastern Jalisco.

South Pacific: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with very strong punctual rains in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas; all with electric shocks and possible hail fall, which could generate landslides and floods. Temperate morning atmosphere, as well as cool in the morning with fog banks in mountain areas. Warm in the afternoon. Variable direction wind from 10 to 25 km/h with gusts of up to 40 km/h in the region.

Gulf of Mexico: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies throughout the day with very strong punctual rains in Veracruz and showers in Tabasco, both with electric shocks, as well as isolated rains in Tamaulipas. Temperate morning atmosphere, as well as cool with fog banks at dawn in the mountainous areas of Veracruz. Warm to hot in the afternoon and very hot in areas of Tamaulipas and Veracruz. Southeast wind from 15 to 30 km/h in the region with gusts of 60 to 70 km/h and dust storms in Tamaulipas.

Yucatan Peninsula: Partly cloudy sky in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon with showers in Campeche and Quintana Roo, as well as isolated rains in Yucatan; all with electric shocks. Warm atmosphere in the morning and warm to hot in the afternoon. East and southeast wind from 10 to 25 km/h in the region with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h on the coasts of Campeche and Yucatan.

Mesa del Norte: Partly cloudy sky and cool atmosphere in the morning, as well as cold in the highlands of Chihuahua and with fog banks at dawn in the mountainous areas of the region. Partly cloudy to cloudy sky in the afternoon with heavy rains in Chihuahua, showers in Durango, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí, as well as isolated rains in Coahuila, Nuevo León and Aguascalientes; all with electric shocks and possible hail fall. Hot atmosphere in the afternoon and very hot in areas of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and San Luis Potosí. East component wind from 15 to 30 km/h in the region with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí and Aguascalientes, in addition to gusts of 60 to 70 km/h and dust storms in Chihuahua, Coahuila and New Lion.

Central Table: Partly cloudy sky during the morning and cloudy during the afternoon with showers in Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Morelos and Puebla. Fresh and cold morning atmosphere in the highlands of Puebla and Tlaxcala. Warm to hot atmosphere in the afternoon. Variable direction wind from 10 to 25 km/h in the region with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h in Guanajuato.

The minimum temperatures (in °C) were recorded in:
Altzomoni, Edo. from Mexico, 1.5; El Chico, Fig., 5.8; Monarch Butterfly I, Mich., 6.4; Perote, Ver., 6.9; La Malinche II, Pue., 7.0; Lagunas de Zempoala, Mor., 7.8 and Airport, Mexico City, 15.0.
