Italian climate activists glued themselves to a glass wall around the painting in Florence on Friday The Primavera from Botticelli. That happened in the Uffizi, one of the most important art museums in the world.

According to the Italian police, three young protesters, two women and a man, had bought a ticket to the museum. In the room dedicated to the 15th-century painter Botticelli, they rolled out a banner on the floor. Then they stuck their hands to the glass that The Spring (Of Lens) must protect.

The banner read in Italian, ‘Last generation, no gas, no coal’. In a statement to the newspaper Corriere della Sera the activists wonder “is it still possible today to see such a beautiful spring as this?”.

The activists and the glue could be removed from the glass without any problems. The museum says there is no damage to the artwork.

The young demonstrators have received a restraining order from the police: they are not allowed to enter Florence for three years.
