“Climate change does not start fires but it can cause such long periods of drought that then when the fires start, or someone starts them, it then becomes a huge problem”. Paolo Sottocorona, the La7 meteorologist, explains the relationship between climate warming, fires and some phenomena that are becoming worrying such as that of the “fire tornado”.
In a video published on the Tg La7 website, the expert shows the maps of the enormous fires that have hit Canada. Months of large fires which recorded a disturbing phenomenon, seen on other occasions, but here it is documented with some videos: a whirlwind fueled by the heat of the fires, a “fire tornado”. “It develops in areas with fires due to a strong rising of the air, in this case due to the heat produced by the fire. When we talk about hell it’s nothing”, comments Sottocorona who then shows the smoke from the Canadian fires which have arrived to invade the air in New York.
In short, “climate change is not a problem of one country, it is a problem of everything because we are a global village”, comments the meteorologist who warns: “These phenomena are initially more harmful to those nearby but little by little they do the damage to the whole world. Climate change doesn’t just affect temperature or rainfall but affects everything, directly or indirectly, and it’s not a good prospect.”
