The letter – or submission – contains a fine of NOK 12,000 for each of the three shareholders.
This is what the police believe the climate activists from “Stopp Oljeletinga” will have to pay for running out on Ullevaal during the international match against Georgia.
The fight was stopped and the activists arrested. Among them was nurse Frida Steinbakk.
– We probably won’t accept the fine, so we’ll see what happens after that. Then there will possibly be a court case if they choose to take it further, says Steinbakk to Dagbladet.

In the submission – to which Dagbladet has gained access – it is stated:
– Tuesday 12 September 2023, approx. at 21.50 during the international match between Norway and Georgia at the Ullevaal stadium in Oslo, she and two other people from “Stopp Oljeletinga” ran onto the field while the match was in progress, or contributed to this. The storming of the pitch led to a temporary stoppage of the football match.
Furthermore, it says:
– The enforcement authority believes that criminal guilt in this case can be proven beyond any reasonable doubt and that the case should be settled with a summons. The subpoena is an offer to settle the criminal case without proceeding in court.

If the notice is not paid, the case will be sent to court. In that case, the fine is increased to NOK 14,000 – alternatively 14 days in prison, the message reads.
– Why won’t you accept the fine?
– We think it is disproportionately high, says Steinbakk to Dagbladet.
This is not the first time “Stop Oil Oil” has struck. The shareholders believe that the climate is at breaking point and that oil exploration must cease immediately as a measure.
– Is it common for you to be fined in connection with the actions?
– It depends a bit. On Monday, we had two actions in the center of Oslo. The police were very good and let us carry them out without any problems, says Steinbakk.

– Have you been in for questioning after what happened at Ullevaal?
– In the.
– The fine just dumped in the mailbox?
– Yes.
– What was your first reaction?
– It was not unexpected that there would be a reaction. But the fine is bigger than I expected. We’ll leave it at that for now. Then we will see if there will eventually be a court case.

– How do you view the campaign at Ullevaal in retrospect?
– It was successful, I would say. We gained attention and have used it to mobilize people. Now we are a good group who are in Oslo and will carry out actions in connection with the negotiations on the national budget. We are quite a few people who are on the streets in Oslo from now on. I don’t want to say the exact number, but we are well over 30 people.
Erling Braut Haaland was among the players who stirred up when the activists stormed Ullevaal. He walked over to one of the lane stormers, but ended up smiling when the situation was under control.

– How do you react to this?
– We want everyone to talk about this now. We are in an emergency situation. The heat records for September are referred to as a death sentence for people and ecosystems. We are on the brink of collapse and in danger of losing everything we love. It’s about protecting ourselves. Haaland is probably also interested in protecting football for the future if he wants to play a couple more years.
Brutal message
Steinbakk continues:
– If we were normal trailblazers, I can understand the frustration. But if he knows our case, he should listen and use his platform to talk about what is happening around him.
– What do you make of the fact that there have been heat records in September?
– The heat records for September have been completely, completely shocking and have gone under the radar in the media. Climate change is now happening faster than previously thought.
According to NTB, the average temperature in the world last month was the highest ever recorded in September. The jump from the previous record in 2020 was 0.5 degrees, according to the EU’s climate monitoring service.

– Is stopping oil exploration the key to a solution, as you see it?
– If we are to have a chance of maintaining the society we have today, it is an absolute necessity to stop looking for oil.
– How do you see the actions going forward?
– Now the state budget has been presented. It is overflowing with oil. The government says it is a safe budget for people of all ages and generations. But it is by no means a safe budget. It will take Norway and the rest of the world straight into the ditch. I think people are starting to realize that the government is completely out of control when it comes to climate action.
– Are there any parties that you think have the solution?
– Yes, the parties that dare to tackle the real problems and want to phase out the oil industry. It is SV, Rødt, MDG and Venstre that support our demands today.

In the report, the police refer to section 181, first paragraph.
Police attorney Kai Spurkland was on the same page when he spoke to Dagbladet on a general basis the day after the rampage:
– Disrupting a football match by pitch storming could be punishable as disorderly conduct under Section 181 of the Criminal Code, he stated.
– When otherwise illegal actions are carried out to promote a political message, it can have an impact on whether the action is punishable and possibly on the level of punishment.

– What can make a storming as a political protest legitimate to carry out?
– It will depend on a number of different circumstances – such as the type of offence, the type of speech in question and the time and place of the act. These questions will be elucidated in the investigation and will be decisive for whether an indictment will be issued, a summons will be issued or not, said Spurkland.
The police have now landed on a report. But the shareholders will not pay this immediately.
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMANDER: Morten Thorsby spoke in an interview with Dagbladet on 13 October. view more
– I don’t have any difficulties in understanding the frustration and aggression, says national team player Morten Thorsby to Dagbladet.
The Genoa player has distinguished himself as an environmentalist:
– “Stop the oil spill” is one thing. But the message that we are in a climate and environmental crisis is absolutely correct. Then we can discuss whether these are the right methods or not, says Thorsby.
– I understand that people can be annoyed by it, and it can work against its purpose. I believe in a more positive way of working with this. We have to use football in a positive way and get people to hang on, points out the Genoa player.
