In 2019, Cleydijane Lopes, 38, a preschool teacher, was diagnosed with Isaacs syndrome, considered a rare condition. But it took her a while to be sure what was happening to her body.
A resident of Santa Cruz do Capibaribe (PE), she lives with constant pain, cramps and extreme fatigue, which makes her daily life very difficult. Furthermore, she realizes that her health is getting worse, as she is currently not receiving adequate treatment. Below, she tells her story:
“In 2018, I started to feel strange symptoms, but I thought it was due to the emotional stress I was experiencing: I lost my father and, shortly afterwards, I suffered a pregnancy loss in the 20th week. I felt very swollen and painful calves, sweating, tachycardia and slight body movements already caused pain.
