Left prop Clément Castets left Stade-Toulousain last summer to join Stade-Français Paris.
Invited to the program Poulain Raffine broadcast on Rugbyrama, the Parisian pillar reconsidered his decision to leave the club of the Ville Rose at the end of last season.
And Clément Castets confides without language of wood: he did not wish to remain the eternal lining of Cyril Baille in Toulouse. Extract:
“I have personal goals and to achieve them, I needed a larger share in a Top 14 group. I spent incredible years in Toulouse where I enjoyed myself, I tripled my level thanks to players like Faumuina, Kaino and others. I enjoyed myself, I lived extraordinary moments. Afterwards, do I still want to be Cyril Baille’s understudy in the club? It was a bit complicated to manage. »
Clément Castets goes even further and indicates that the notion of competition had disappeared within Stade-Toulousain following the departure of William Servat for the France team. He explains himself. Extract:
“When William Servat was a coach, there was still a notion of competition. When I reached my best level and Cyril Baille was a little less efficient, I was in front and started. Afterwards, there were changes in the staff and there was less of this notion of competition. And for me, being a competitor, it was difficult. I need a carrot. If I’m really the best, I have to play at the weekend. And that, I absolutely need. If I do not have this notion of competition and objective to seek, it is quite possible to stop rugby. If I don’t have anything to look for, there’s no point in going to train every day. »
Since last summer, Clément Castets has been the delight of Stade-Français Paris.
