Former RSC Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck and ex-CEO Jo Van Biesbroeck will have to answer before the criminal court for tampering in the sale of the football club, the council chamber has decided. Football agent Christophe Henrotay was also referred.
The council chamber does not fully follow the claim of the federal public prosecutor’s office, which had requested the referral of eleven persons and five companies. Several other suspects – including ex-chairman Roger Vanden Stock, in-house lawyer Luc Deleu, former financial director René Trullemans and the law firms Clifford Chance and Van Landuyt en Vennoten – were not referred. They are therefore exempt from prosecution.
Football agent Christophe Henrotay has been referred for his suspected involvement in the tampering with the sale of the Brussels football club.
There is no date for the trial. The lawyer of Marc Coucke, who is said to have been exposed to false financial information so that he could increase his bid to purchase RSCA, says that the decision clearly shows that Coucke was duped.
“The decision is being further investigated, but it has now been made clear that my client was deceived when purchasing the shares and that he has suffered significant damage as a result,” says master Walter Van Steenbrugge.
