Clear Spaces brings transparent widgets to your iPhone – One More Thing

Thanks to iOS 14, iPhone users have gained more control over their home screen. Despite the fact that you can change the style of icons and add widgets, certain things are not possible yet. Think of placing app icons where you want them.

Fortunately, with Clear Spaces we have found a way to make this possible. At least, sort of.

iOS 14 widgets verbergen met Clear Spaces

The app currently costs € 2.29 in the App Store. It ensures that you can put icons on the iOS 14 home screen in a specific place, without the need for a widget. Or at least, without the need for a visible widget. What you do in fact with the application is to place a widget that constantly shows one photo. This is of course not just any photo, but the same photo you use for your background. This makes it seem as if there is no widget at all, despite the fact that your applications are still in a different position than normal. For example also in a 4 × 4 setup.

It is possible to upload your wallpaper in the Clear Spaces app. You can choose to choose the background that you use in the light mode and one that you use in the dark mode. Then you indicate in the application where you want to place the widget. Top left, bottom right or in the middle, for example. The app then ensures that the widgets cut out exactly the part of the photo where you want to place the widget. This makes the photo fit in perfectly with the rest of the background and it looks like there are no widgets at all.
