Ronald Koeman will not be able to contact Jan Paul van Hecke during the Nations League games against Hungary and Germany in mid-October. The centre-back who previously made his international debut is struggling with a groin injury, it is understood International football.

That injury kept Van Hecke on the sidelines in the Premier League final, when his employer Brighton & Hove Albion took on Chelsea. The mark is also a must watch in the coming weeks.

Anyway, he will miss the meeting between Brighton and Tottenham Hotspur and the two international games with the Dutch team. A medical examination concluded this for Van Hecke on Monday.

The Zeeland defender’s injury has been ongoing for some time. Before that, Van Hecke was able to continue with the complaints, but they started to become more visible last week.

The damage is still limited for the former NAC Breda and SC Heerenveen player. After the international break, like the seagulls against Newcastle United, he is available again.

Van Hecke made his debut for the Dutch national team on 10 September in a League of Nations match against Germany. He came on right after the break for Matthijs de Ligt, who was playing very poorly.

For the latter, Van Hecke’s injury could be a stroke of luck. De Ligt has had a hugely inconsistent season and, partly due to two sub-par performances for the Dutch side, seemed to fear for his minutes under Koeman.
