Clea Shearer has completed her cancer treatment.
The 40-year-old was diagnosed with breast cancer in March and immediately declared war on the disease. The “Home Edit” actress took to social media on Sunday (Nov. 27) that she can describe herself as a “survivor.”
Clea shares exciting images from the hospital
“I’m done! Today my journey goes from cancer patient to cancer survivor. I haven’t stopped crying since the bell rang,” Clea wrote alongside some photos from the hospital.
“What a year has passed since the diagnosis of March 8. I had surgery for my double mastectomy on April 8, unsure of what my treatment plan would be. I woke up after 9 hours of surgery to find that cancer had made its way into my lymph nodes which meant chemo and radiation were needed. Trying to digest this information, I had to have surgery again 7 days later for necrosis (my skin wouldn’t take it). But after my second surgery I started to heal really well and I did it with flying colors.
“It’s crazy, but did they have the best time?”
The ‘Get Organized with The Home Edit’ star added that battling the disease has also had some positives, and that the support and family time during the ordeal will always remain.
“Here I am, November 22nd, 9 months after my diagnosis – and I am cancer free. There were so many positives that I want to highlight as well. My mother moved in with us on April 6th just before my surgery and she only went back to California a couple of times to visit my dad. It’s crazy to say but did we have the best time? I never thought I’d live with my mom again when I was 40 and loved every minute. I also never spent so much time with John and the kids. It’s a time in my life that I will cherish even though it’s been extremely difficult for all of us. As my healing journey comes to an end (although it will never end!), I also want to thank you all from the bottom up of my heart. The many loves will always remain with me”.
