Claudiu Iordache was general director of the Institute of the Romanian Revolution from December 1989, from 2004 to March 2018, when he was dismissed in a controversial way. He was a demonstrator in the Romanian Revolution in Timișoara from the first hours, in the first city declared by the revolutionaries free of communism. He is one of the 11 founding members of the Timișoara Society, an organization founded in the first month after the Revolution of December 1989 “as a result of its confiscation, in Bucharest, by the communist nomenclature”.
The Timișoara Company issued the “Timișoara Proclamation”, point 8 of which proposed a Lustration Law. At that time, Iordache was against the application of Point 8 in Timișoara, considering that it was directed strictly against Ion Iliescu. In 2014, he stated that “I should have claimed that Point 8 in Timişoara was applied in Romanian society. We would have prevented them from seizing Romania “.
CLAUDIU IORDACHE. IN ETERNAL MEMORY OF A FREE MAN
„CLAUDIU IORDACHE. IN ETERNAL MEMORY OF A FREE MAN. Two weeks ago he celebrated his birthday with us, in joy and good cheer, sharing thoughts for the present and plans for the future, plans for the books he was working on and whose publication we were preparing together, but especially for Christmas, the Holy Feast of the Nativity of the Lord Jesus, which he eagerly awaited as a child, with unspeakable joy in his soul, as in every year of our lives.
He left so unexpectedly, unjustly that the shock of his departure is overwhelming, crushing under his weight the words he would try to understand. He could have been alive at this time if those called to his life had made a correct diagnosis, followed by a life-saving treatment. If empathy, humanity would have led them on the path to saving a life. Unfortunately, this was not the case. And he left. He left taking with him the whole world inside him: a huge wealth of feelings, emotions, thoughts, knowledge! He left with everything that was his, and he will never be able to be replaced by anyone!
He accomplished enormously in his existence on this earth, but he still had much to do, he still had much to accomplish! Claudiu Iordache was one of those exceptional beings through whom God chooses to work in the world! His acts of courage, his extraordinary personality marked the history of 1989 in Romania and in the world, as well as the history of the three decades that followed. Fragile, sensitive, disturbing poet, reflecting in his poems the reality mirrored in his own heart, strong writer, complex, impressive, looking tirelessly at the world through the eyes of the fighter for Freedom and Justice, a scholar, a deep intellectual, a tall, beautiful, generous spirit, always dedicated to the other, always dedicated to Freedom, which he loved as a supreme goal of his life! From his actions in the Timisoara Revolution of December 1989, among the courageous leaders of which he was, to the actions for fulfilling the ideals of the Revolution in the society that followed, or bringing Bessarabia and Bukovina back home, to the Motherland, as well as through all the writings to him, he was tireless as a fighter for Freedom, Justice, Truth.
Countless times he hit the wall of silence or indifference of the world we live in, but he did not stop for a moment to hope that it can produce real change, he did not stop for a moment to write, to think plans of action, through every word and step seeking to lead others on the path to Freedom and Truth. He had moments of success, but also too many moments when he felt alone, in a world that did not want to hear about the fight for these supreme values, in a world that did not want to be reminded of the beauty and importance of the Romanian Revolution. since December 1989, and the debts of our soul to the memory of those who then gave their lives for Freedom.
For them, for the heroes and martyrs of December 1989, Claudiu Iordache was tireless in writing, in remembering, in committing! Respect and gratitude for their struggle and sacrifice were what did not let him get tired of writing, remembering, committing! And equally, his love for Romania! For the country that bled her heart with her sufferings, for the country that she loved immensely and for which she fought through every word or action that she fulfilled. He wrote about Romania, he cried, he called to deeds, Romania from his soul loved her and defended her in front of all attacks on her national being, to her essence, she dedicated poems to Romania from her soul and looked for ways of defense, of change, of rebirth, of fulfillment.
The revolution of December 1989 and Romania were the two great chapters in which Claudiu Iordache fought and hoped tirelessly!
His struggle for Freedom and Justice, the books he wrote, the parliamentary, political, social actions he undertook, are part of Romania’s history and will remain forever! His energy, his spirit, his written or spoken words touched hearts and made consciences vibrate, and in these hearts his memory will remain forever! His place in the history of Romania is written through everything he has accomplished, through everything he has accomplished for his country, for his people, for the holy causes of Freedom, Justice and Truth, to which he has dedicated the struggle of his life! Beyond all that Claudiu Iordache accomplished for Freedom, for the Country, for the Nation, beyond his struggle for high ideals and values, the most important place in his heart, in his soul, was occupied by the beings he unspeakable lover: his sons Claudiu Cristian and Claudiu Alexandru, and their mother, his wife, Cristina Maria. For nothing did he live in this world more than for us, the dearest beings of his soul, as he called us!
Every thought, every gesture, every deed he committed was made for us! He never thought of him, only we were in his mind! He did not want anything for himself, but he always wanted something for us: a small or a great joy, a gift of the soul or a concrete one, with a beauty of soul and a generosity that cannot be described in words!
He rejoiced for his family, through her, when he gave her joy – and always sought to do so, at any moment of life together!
God has given us as a gift the privilege of living together in a unique way, and now we will have to live without him in our lives, and we do not know how, we do not know how to live without our soul, which was him, without the essence of our life, who was he…. He left too early, too suddenly, and so unfair! His sons needed him now more than ever! The three of us, the dearest beings to his soul, will have to go on the path of life without him.
We will do it with hearts torn by grief to fulfill the promise we have made to him so many times: to carry on his name and the memory of the facts of his life, to send him to the world the books, the ones in the manuscript, and those already published, not to let his writing be forgotten, the facts, the fight for Freedom, the name that will remain a place of honor in Romanian culture and in the history of Romania! In every moment of our lives we will ask God to support us to have the strength to go on without him, in every moment of our lives we will ask Claudius to be our guardian angel, to watch, from the world in which he is now, on his sons and his wife, to be with us at every moment.
In our heart Claudiu will remain alive, whole, our love for him will remain whole as long as we live on earth, a strong, deep, boundless, eternal love! We pray to God to receive in His Light his good and beautiful soul, brave and generous, tall and upright, to rest him in His light and eternal Peace, as he deserves! And we pray to God to help us endure his absence from our lives, until we meet again in the Light and in the High! Rest in peace, our beloved Claudius, our beloved husband and father and friend and Companion! We love you forever! Forever together! Cristina Maria, Claudiu Cristian, Claudiu Alexandru. The beings dearest to your soul! ” Source: Claudiu Iordache’s Facebook page.
