Claudio Flores, world champion in high-precision shooting

CLaudio Flores, 35 years old, practices a sport that is not known in our region such as high precision shooting, specifically in the compressed air shooting modality, he is a faithful representative of the region in international tournaments where he has stood out great form by becoming world champion in one of the most important competitions for this discipline that takes place in Arizona, United States.

This type of shooting is long distance, over a thousand meters and has a large number of followers in the northern country as well as in Asia and Europe.

Claudio is a native of Santiago but has been living in Punta Arenas for 21 years and has been practicing High Precision Shooting for 18 years, specializing in compressed air shooting, where he has participated in various world competitions, his most important title being obtained in 2018 in Arizona.

“The best shooters were there, it was something impressive,” says Flores about what that experience was like.

He currently works for the UK company, Daystate Ltda. in the area of ​​marketing and development. This same company sponsors him, thus allowing him to travel to different countries in the world, such as South Africa or the United States and win competitions thanks to his great quality as a competitor.

He also has a YouTube channel, “Patagonia Airguns Chile”, where he teaches instructions on how to use the implements he uses and is supporting the club “Las Cumbres Shooting Club” where they encourage children to practice target shooting.

He adds that this sport has also allowed him to associate with the National Rifle Association, of the United States, and assures: “they do not think of hurting someone. The issue is that when you dedicate yourself to target shooting you do not do it with the aim of injuring a person, it is the same as any sport, trace your objective and reach the goal. It’s a super fun sport.”

Regarding the risks of this discipline, he highlights that it is necessary to “have hearing and visual protection, glasses and headphones. In the ranges, you are generally sitting at a table, all the people are in a shooting area and it is not allowed for another person to take the rifle without having knowledge of its use, that is why it is important before taking a course so that people understand the subject of the weapon”, he finally highlights.
