Claudia Sheinbaum Leads In Presidential Polls with 30-Point Advantage

Morena’s virtual candidate for the presidency in 2024, Claudia Sheinbaum, reacted to the survey that gives her a 30-point advantage over Xóchitl Gálvez, who will become the candidate of the Frente Amplio por México (FAM).

“This shows that the people do not want to return to the past,” said the former head of Government about the most recent national housing survey by Buendía & Márquez for EL UNIVERSAL.

Interviewed by several media after leading an informational assembly in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, the virtual presidential candidate of Morena and her allies pointed out that what the survey shows is that Mexicans support the Fourth Transformation project.

“More than a personal matter, it is a project matter. I have said it everywhere, the people of Mexico are with the transformation, the people of Mexico do not want to return to the past, and that is what the survey shows, that the Movement is going very well and that the people do not want regressions to the past. That’s what the survey says,” she remarked.

He said that the big issue is what the people who seek to compete for the Presidency of the Republic represent.

“In my case, what we represent is the continuity of the transformation and you have seen, it is not only a matter of those who are part of the Movement. It is a massive issue, that the people of Mexico want this way, but there are also many personalities who are joining, artists, academics, businessmen, businesswomen throughout the country, so this is a movement that can no longer be stopped,” he pointed out. .

In terms of electoral preference, using a generic ballot (without candidate names, only with party emblems), Morena obtains more than half of the sympathies of those surveyed (53%) and its probable coalition partners —PVEM and PT— 5 additional points. The parties of the Frente Amplio por México, for their part, account for 21% of the preferences (PAN 11%; PRI 8%; PRD 2%). Citizen Movement obtains only 6%.

When respondents are presented with a mock ballot with names of candidates (also called “careo”), the percentages of voting intention are as follows: Claudia Sheinbaum (Morena-PVEM-PT) 50%; Xóchitl Gálvez (PAN-PRI-PRD) 20%; Samuel García (MC) 7%; and Eduardo Verástegui, who seeks to be an independent candidate, 4%. 19% of those surveyed did not express a preference for any candidate.
