Claudia de Breij misses the tension she feels right before her performances | NOW

Claudia de Breij misses the feeling of tension she experiences just before she takes to the stage in the theater. In conversation with AD she says that she is now looking for that tension in her program Safe Cave.

In this program De Breij receives guests in her home studio with whom she has to make a song within 45 minutes. “The crazy thing is: we play the best when something is at stake,” says the comedian and singer. “You would think: make music with friends on a Thursday night and it is nice, but I need some pressure. That there will be an album or a program.”

De Breij compares working under pressure to performing in the theater. “Just give me the excitement of that one moment when it has to happen, I already miss it so much now that I am not in the theater. I miss the excitement of eight o’clock in the evening, normally the time when I go up. Now is at 8 p.m. only the news and nothing else. “

De Breij explains that the 45 minutes she has with the musicians starts after playing a song they both know together. “You have to make contact when you make music together. It’s a bit like showing each other your underwear.”

The program Safe Cave can be seen on Friday evening at BNNVARA on NPO3 at 10.25 pm. An album with recordings of the sessions should be released in April.
