Jones added five birdies and closed the tournament with 268 strokes (- 12).

The 40-year-old Australian triumphed for the second time on the PGA Tour; his first win was in 2014, in Houston.

“It touches me a lot to taste victory again,” he said.

Jones, who started the tournament with a stunning 61, also secures a purse of 1.26 million and an invitation to the Masters Tournament.

It’s been seven years, and it’s been difficult. I have had ups and downs, like all golfers, but this victory will now allow me to play bigger tournaments.

His closest pursuer was American Brandon Hagy (66), who had six birdies on Sunday.

American Chase Seiffert finished strong with a 64, finishing in third place (- 6), tied with compatriots Brendan Steele, Denny McCarthy and Russell Henley, as well as with Taiwanese CT Pan.

Seiffert registered six birdies and no boguey; Steele pulled off an eagle.

Canadian Adam Hadwin did well with an eighth place (- 5), following a last card of 68. He had three birdies on the first four holes. His compatriot Roger Sloan finished 25e (- 2).

Defending South Korean champion Sungjae Im brought home a card of 70 on Sunday for a total of 275 (- 5), like Hadwin.
