“Classes with Arranged Schedules Present Opera Performance in Montauban”

the essential
It’s the big day for the classes with arranged schedules which present at 4 p.m. at Eurythmy “Zoura the maleficent”. A second performance will take place on Sunday.

It’s not every day that an opera is on show in Montauban. When children take the stage, it becomes an event. Today and Sunday, the classes with arranged hours (CHA) of the departmental conservatory of Montauban will perform on the stage of Eurythmy.

This system was opened at the start of the 2010 school year with classes dedicated to music, it was joined in 2015 by classes in classical and jazz dance, including contemporary dance. A voice section completed the system in 2018.

Today, these classes bring together 270 students, from CM1 to 3e, who come twice a week to the conservatory to practice an instrument, dance or sing during school time.

Sylvain Perret, director of the conservatory explains: “These children follow a double course, both academic and artistic. This system makes it possible to democratize artistic teaching by facilitating their practice. It also promotes social diversity, registration is free and we lend the instruments.

The whole challenge of the CHAs is to make the conservatory accessible to as many people as possible, to encourage amateur practice, to democratize it, while allowing those who want it to become professional in a second stage”.

A transversal project

The conservatory is a breeding ground for the dynamic development of artistic expression. The restitution and valorization of their work are important times. In this context, in addition to the various concerts and shows that take place throughout the year, the 270 budding artists will meet on stage this weekend to perform an opera entitled “Zoura, la maléfique” composed by Bertrand Lavaud-Bach. .

This opera is a highlight, a real transversal project of the Artistic Education Center prepared by the student musicians, dancers, singers and those of the School of Drawing, as well as by their teachers, since the beginning of the school year.

Free admission, today and tomorrow at Eurythmy at 4 p.m. Doors open to the public one hour before
