Class 12 student drags cop for 300 metres on car’s bonnet in Surat

Surat: A policeman hanged on the bonnet of a car driven by a 19-year-old man who tried to escape from the vehicle inspection. The car sped for more than 300 meters with the policeman hanging on the bonnet. Hemraj Bhadia, a class 12th student, drove the car while the police officer was hanging on the bonnet. The CCTV footage of this has been released.

The incident took place under the Alkapuri bridge on Sunday night when the police team was checking the vehicle. Police officer Rakshak Gautam Joshi noticed the car without registration number and signaled to stop the vehicle. But the car was speeding towards Joshi. Joshi held on to the bonnet to avoid being thrown off.

However, the student, who drove the car at a high speed, tried to ram Joshi into the barricade. Hemraj tried to drive the car over Joshi’s body after driving the car back and forth and knocking him to the ground. The Assistant Commissioner said that Joshi survived only by luck.

The police followed Hemraj and arrested him at home. The police said that charges including attempted murder have been charged against him. Joshi who fell on the road was taken to the hospital by the police.
