Clashes renewed in Ain al-Hilweh camp, Lebanon: one dead and 4 wounded, and heavy weapons were used

Armed clashes renewed in the Ain Al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon, this evening, Wednesday, which resulted in the death of one person and the wounding of 4 others.

Eyewitnesses told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the clashes were the most violent and heavy weapons were used.

In more detail, the sounds of B7 and B10 shells, as well as light, medium and heavy weapons, were heard, while the areas of clashes expanded to several axes inside the camp, according to eyewitnesses.

The Director General of Al-Hamshari Hospital, Riyad Abu Al-Enein, confirmed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that one person died and 3 others were injured as a result of these clashes, and it is expected that the number of wounded will increase, as ambulance crews were called to evacuate more injured people.

The camp witnessed relative calm during the day after a cease-fire came into effect, under the supervision of a delegation from the “Palestinian Joint Action Committee”, which entered the camp, yesterday, Tuesday, to establish the cease-fire.

Ain al-Hilweh camp is witnessing a security crisis represented by violent clashes between members of the “Fatah” movement and elements of the “Muslim Youth” group, which began last Saturday and resulted in the death of 11 people and the injury of more than 60 others, in addition to the displacement of 2,000 people.
